When country, rock and blues musician Jerry Spivey needed to rebuild his website, he turned to Clever Mutt to help him realize his goal of making his music available for sale online

Music has been Jerry’s passion since he was very young. His uncle Pete played in a country band and that sparked his interest in music. From those early influences, Jerry now has a band that plays country, country rock, old rock & roll and some blues.

Jerry also has his own studio, Horsefeathers, where he writes and produces his own lyrics and music. He has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. playing in clubs and casinos. One of his favorite gigs was playing the Texas Treasure Casino Ship near Corpus Christi. He has opened for such stars as Ricochet, William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys, Johnny Bush, Bobby G. Rice, Mel Street, and The Goldens.

Jerry is also the lead guitar player for the Rope, Catch and Ride Cowboy Church in Mabank, Texas.

By his own admission, Jerry is still learning about the Internet. Like many musicians however, that didn’t stop him from embracing it fully – seeing the clear possibilities the Internet could offer him.

Jerry ventured online by setting up a website to promote his work and his music through a well known ‘build-your-own-website’ company.

Although this gave Jerry an online presence, he wasn’t satisfied with the design and the ongoing cost.

Jerry wanted his website to showcase his music and give him a way to sell his CD’s easily. It was very important to Jerry that visitors could test samples of his music. "It just didn’t do what we wanted" says Jerry.

Jerry and his wife Judy felt that it was time to for a better solution.

The first problem was where to start. He didn’t want a stock website or something put together by a company that built websites as a side business – he needed a professional website designer.

"For what we wanted to achieve with our site, no one could or would do it" says Jerry. That’s when he came across Tiffani at Clever Mutt. Tiffani called after hearing about Jerry’s experience from a local computer consultant he’d spoken to. Like most computer stores and consultants, website design wasn’t their specialty and the consultant had been keen to have professionals contact Jerry to help.

"My initial concern was that without our help Jerry & Judy would continue paying every month for something they were not happy with. Jerry & Judy were not alone, unfortunately this situation is too common", recalls Tiffani.

Jerry, Judy and their daughter Meghann met with Clever Mutt and explained the experiences they’d already had; and that although they knew what they wanted to achieve, they were having difficulty getting things done the way they wanted.

"Tiffani and Chris at Clever Mutt seemed to be very knowledgeable of what we wanted and had clear ideas of how our goals should be met". It was so easy to discuss things with them. "Clever Mutt knew what we were looking for in a website and made things easy for us to understand" says Jerry.

He realized he’d found the people he was looking for.

Getting to work, Clever Mutt quickly provided Jerry with an example design and working closely with Jerry and Judy, put together text, images and audio files for the site.

"Importantly Clever Mutt kept us in the loop throughout the entire process with emails and phone calls, we found that Clever Mutt were very easy to communicate with, which we appreciated" says Jerry. In a matter of days, the new website was launched.
